A four-day training of 16 new volunteers from CERIDES (Centre of Excellence in Risk & Decision Sciences) at the European University Cyprus within the European project EM-CITY* was completed the first week of March.
For the first time, sixteen new volunteers from Greece (through the organization C.C.I. ), Turkey (through the Innogo organization), Italy (through the EPC organization) and Cyprus (through CERIDES), traveled to Cyprus and trained to promote social cohesion between different groups in local communities in an emergency necessity.
It is generally accepted that if these groups are made aware and involved with appropriate guidance in emergency situations, they can play a key role in strengthening these relationships in any region and local community.
Project EM-CITY** was designed with this aim in mind and now continues as a program to organize training at the local level in order to transfer the knowledge, skills and ability to activate and involve all young people in an area that has cultural but also linguistically diverse communities and groups.
*The European Project “Emergency Management by Communities Interaction Through Youth” with distinctive title EM-CITY is financed by Erasmus+ KA2 Youth.
